I have always enjoyed and appreciated calligraphy. My brother recently studied Japanese Calligraphy and has shared some of his interest in it with me. I particularly like the look of the brush strokes. My intention was to create a metal piece that would resemble the look of the strokes . When it was finished, it seemed appropriate to name it "Brother".
Dan was raised on a farm in Spokane, Washington where he developed a love and appreciation for nature at a young age. In high school and early college he took art classes. In 1975 he moved to Salt Lake City and was trained to weld stainless steel. He later followed his dream to build sculpture and is particularly fascinated with kinetic sculpture.
